naturally, i am olive-skinned, not as tan or glowing as i seem. my sight weak and my eyes dimmed. my strands are untamed and unreliable - curling my waves in and around and in every direction they rebelliously flow out. for my blurred vision to become bright, i fix my perception with eyes not my own and hair distinctively tamed with man made materials. my body pressured into styles odd and clothes uncomfortable. the sun has darkened my complexion and experiences hardened my heart, social surroundings too cold for my skin.
in this world, i became too modern.
